Halibut Trips
$250.00 price/per person
Combo-Rockfish or salmon add. $30.00 price/per person
This is our standard halibut trip and the primary goal is to limit on
2 nice, sized halibut for each person aboard. These trips depart from
the harbor near 7AM and return around 5PM, unless earlier indicated
because of a weigh-in for the Derby. We usually run 30 to 45 miles from
port, which takes about two hours. We tailor this trip to accommodate
the parties onboard as best possible, which indicates whether we’ll
head hunt for a “shooter” fish or go for the “wild bite.”
You’ll need your fishing license, a lunch, warm clothes, a great attitude,
and derby ticket, if you choose to chance the big one. We leave the
port each day knowing this could be the best trip EVER and expect that
you’ll be more than satisfied fishing with Ivory Queen Charters.
Long Range Combo Trip (halibut and lingcod)
Available: After July 1st $300.00 price/per person
Although it isn't necessary to run way offshore to catch nice sized
fish, traveling further does allow the opportunity to fish less exploited
areas with increased potential to find the big ‘barndoor’ halibut and
ferocious
lingcod. These trips generally take us three hours from the port out
into the open Gulf of Alaska and are dependent upon cooperative weather.
Long Range trips leave the harbor closer to 6AM, returning near 5PM
or sooner if a potential weigh-in contender for the Derby is brought
aboard.
A groundswell is almost always present so if you easily fall to seasickness
please think twice about signing up. This is a hard core, no holds bar-fishing
trip, with a pay-off in high rates of success. If the weather doesn't
permit to run further offshore, as sometimes the case, the standard
halibut trip rate will apply. You’ll need your fishing license, a lunch,
warm clothes, a persistent and tough attitude, and of course a derby
ticket to ring the big one with.
Our Captain loves booking Long Range trips because of lingcod’s ferocious
bite and attack—when lingcod bite, they don’t just nibble on the barrel,
they engulf the whole gun! Along with the crazy ling action there is
an increased opportunity to pick up yellow-eyed rockfish as a bonus
and big mama halibut!
Overnight Trips (More information Click
Here)
1-4 guests $1600, 5 guests $1800, 6 guests $2000 /Per day for entire
boat
A fuel surcharge of 10% - 15% will be added pending fuel price
increase from 2007
Given a choice, this is the trip we prefer to run. Two or more days
of fishing, without the time crunch of a day trip and extra travel time
to and from harbor, creates mini-fishing cruises that ensure you will
get the most from your experience. Commonly, we will halibut fish the
first day and then target lingcod, rockfish, or salmon the next, heading
out to the Long Range grounds to take in most of this experience.
At night we anchor in a near-by stunning and protected bay to enjoy
an incredible meal with some of the day’s catch and the unmatched scenery—our
Captain is a fabulous cook too! You can’t possibly eat fresher fish
than this in a more beautiful place! This is clearly a great way for
you to get the most unique Alaskan experience along with the greatest
fishing Homer has to offer.
Accommodations on the Ivory Queen are spacious and extremely comfortable.
We’re able to accommodate up to 6 people on this trip. You’ll need your
fishing license, warm clothes, and an attitude of wonderment. All food
and non-alcoholic beverages are included in the overnight trip. We also
carry a 12’ skiff to accommodate a run to the beach from the Ivory Queen
during the evening—remember we’re in the land of the midnight sun! The
options with this trip are wide-open and we’re especially excited to
custom tailor to your desires, creating an experience that will have
you hooked (yes, pun intended) and coming back year after year.
Tour Of the Ivory Queen
Salmon Fishing
$225.00 price/per person
Winter Feeder King (Chinook) Salmon consist of the younger year classes
(think adolescents) who are yet out to ocean ‘feeding’ and growing.
However, just because they are not ready to spawn yet, this does not
mean that they are small. It’s common to land 20 plus pound winter kings!
Typically when
in
search of feeder Kings we troll with downriggers. Although Winter Kings
are not normally found in great numbers, the reward of catching these
elusive fish outweighs the effort for the dedicated fisherman.
Early May to June start the staging of spawning for the Kings. We have
a great opportunity to pick these salmon off in the salt water, well
before they enter the rivers to spawn. These salmon are bright chrome,
big and very powerful.
Silver (Coho) Salmon perhaps serve as the most sought after species
and for good reason. Silvers are voracious feeders, good fighters, excellent
on the table, and usually present in great numbers. Mid July and early
August starts the fishing of Silvers and the excellent fishing continues
into late September. Typically we pick up Silvers, as a bonus, when
regular halibut trips reach the limit early and then target them exclusively
as their numbers grow during prime time season. Impromptu combo trips
are an option when the salmon are plentiful in the halibut fishing grounds.
Humpy’s (Pink) Salmon and Red (Sockeye) Salmon are usually not our target
while out salmon fishing but they do add welcomed excitement and are
a great bonus to trolling.
Whatever the species of salmon found, you cannot beat Wild Alaskan salmon’s
fabulous health benefits— ask your doctors! Willing anglers will love
the thrill of catching them when in season.
Hunting Transportation
$1600 / day boat rate
A fuel surcharge of 10% - 15% will be added pending fuel price
increase from 2007
We provide boat transportation with a floating base camp for your self-guided
hunting trips. These floating base camp hunts are a great way to bag
spring or fall black bear or Sitka Black Tail Deer. Residents and nonresidents
alike can hunt black bear in Alaska without a big game guide.

Bear hunts start shortly after leaving the harbor, glassing the shoreline
for spring black bears that are foraging for new vegetation and low
tide offerings. We prefer to accommodate two to four hunters on these
self-guided hunting trips because of the added gear that each hunter
requires. Not everyone on this trip needs to hunt; wives, husbands,
photographers, kids and especially fisherman, are welcome.
When we’re not hunting odds are that we will either be fishing, relaxing
aboard the Ivory Queen, beach combing, or simply enjoying good company
in some of the world’s most beautiful scenery. May is a fantastic time
to plan one of these unforgettable trips.
