Multi-Day and Long Range Information

Good Choice… If you want to separate yourself from the thousands of people that come to Homer, Alaska fishing each year read on. We are here to help you live out a true Alaskan dream vacation and not just passively watch it transpire from the road. Our intent is to make your long-range trip the most custom-tailored, versatile, and extravagantly talked about adventure of your life.

Now for the details…We’ve expanded the day trips to overnight trips and the overnight trips to multi-day adventures to include the sweetest 12 guest remote lodge in all of Alaska all to enhanced your Alaskan experience. With that in mind, I lay out a few scenarios…

A 2-Day Fishing Trip:

Departure time is near 7 am. Traveling along the coast of the Kenai Peninsula, the lower Cook Inlet, and Gulf of Alaska, we brake to take in Alaskan’s outer-shore offerings… enormous whales, bears on the beach, stellar sea lions hauled out on the outcroppings, and even mountain goats, grazing on grassy slopes and the beach.

We typically begin fishing near 10 am… a good wrestling with fish always creates extra appreciation for lunch. A gourmet sandwich, a real “samich” will be served while we are anchored atop one of our favorite fishing holes. Snacks and beverages are always available… but save room. We wrap up the day’s fishing near 6 pm, snap pictures (your grandkids will be hanging on to these), and then head to a cove or bay to “safe harbor” for the evening.

While the filleting and icing of your days catch is handled by the deckhand, your Captain will be preparing the evening’s meal—surf and turf, which consists of seasoned and marinated local, free range rib eye steaks and the freshest, most delightful grilled fish you’ve tasted, along side steamed veggies.

One trip, I had just set steaks on the grill when a client said, “…hard to believe that places this beautiful exist in real life.” I glanced up at the sunlit mountains and white waterfall pulsing down the jagged cliffs. In what seemed like just seconds later, my attention came back to dinner and the steaks had been overcooked; small price to pay for the unmatched beauty!

Your sole duty at this point is to kick back, relax, and completely absorb the remote Alaska’s coastal surroundings. It’s not long after dinner that you’ll fade into a comfortable nights sleep.

Before the day charters leave Homer, on day two, you’ll have already eaten an invigorating breakfast and be finding a fishing pole in one hand and steaming cup of coffee in the other. Throughout the day, we’ll ease back over prosperous fishing holes and fish for all species that time allows. Snacks, beverages, and a lunch are provided to satisfy your desires. We will return to the Homer Harbor around 5 in the evening to unload your haul of fish.

It is wise to plan for 70-100 pounds of fillets per person. The possession limit for this 2-day trip is 4 Halibut, 2 Ling Cod, 10 Rockfish, 6 Salmon, 3 of which are Silvers, and 2 additional King Salmon per individual.

Now let’s visit the next level and dabble in the possibilities that come with Multi-Day Trips (2 + Days):

When you add a day, two, or three to the standard overnight trip the possibilities open wide to truly customizing your Alaskan adventure. We have capacity to run 5 days, solely on the boat, and yes, a shower is available so you won’t have to smell like your catch—or worse! In addition, we are thrilled to now incorporate the grand magnitude of an elegantly, rustic 12-guest lodge in secluded Alaska—call us for more details!

Just think… In addition to the wondrous fishing, we launch the skiff to go ashore and immerse you in remote  river fishing, clamming for those succulent additions to chowder, beach combing for delicate treasures, and attempting to wrap your arms around hundred year old spruce trees. Does the ability to hike the mountainside, kayak the pristine waters, pick luscious berries, hunt bear, elk, deer or goats (when season’s permit, guided or unguided) and step into the picturesque scenery interest you? Have you imagined fishing in a secluded river where the Silvers are stacked like cordwood and the only competition in your casting or fly-fishing may be a bear, eagle, or line-snatching tree?

One trip we were fortunate enough to witness a Humpback cow teaching her calf basic life skills… We had stopped to take pictures of the whales and with time noticed a large Humpback gently nudging her young calf toward our idling boat. When the calf reached about 15 yards, the cow swimming next to the young abruptly changed her baby’s course. She repeated this lesson a few more times and then her black, shiny back rose in the air, she rolled forward flashing us her massive tail, and disappeared with her calf… speechless and priceless!

On all of our overnight trips we rarely fish rough water. If the seas offshore are a factor, we fish near Islands or close to shore in the kelp beds. With numerous days, we have time to search for big game fish in the most favorable conditions. We always use the safest and most secure anchorage or mooring available to us in evening, for the deepest, most peaceful sleep.

Whether you are interested in a 2-Day Fishing Trip or Multi-Day Alaskan Adventure, I encourage you to engage us with our creativity and expertise to craft your out-of-this-world vacation—or might I say, out-of-your-world vacation!

Please call or write with questions, comments, and thoughts!
